120518. Thursday Events.

Thursday saw a bunch of events by happenings. Two of which I was able to attend.

A poetry event at Nepenthes NY. It was the first time for me to see poetry on the walls as exhibition. It was also a reading performance event as well. I hope you can forgive

Also at nepenthes was a pop up shop by new fashion clothier sensation, Batten Sportswear from Brooklyn. Guaranteed to make a splash for a long time!

In SOHO that very same night was a book signing by fellow artist, Mike Scalisi, mentioned in last blog, at RRL. It was a fabulously festività event packed with admireres, fans, friends and colleagues. Congratulations, Mike! You smashed it last night!

After all that, dinner with friends at bFlat, the underground food and spirits establishment with killer drinks and a crusher teriyaki burger.

A great night indeed.

120517. Follow Me

My good friend, Mike Scalisi, has self published a photobook titled, "Follow Me". Tonight, there is a special opening reception for him at RRL Soho.

You could only find this book in RRL store in LA but now, it will be available in NY!! There is an article written about Mike in Vanity Fair. Please check it.
The book is about a man's journey to lose his 'self' on a trip across the country to find himself.

This book was shot entirely on film, on location with medium format camera. A very interesting book and very rich. Full of landscape to get lost in. A dynamic visual statement.

Got an email recently from my friend, Jeff Saunders. Saturday sees the 2nd annual NYFEST ( film and entertainment soccer tournament) withe the Triebca Film Festival. Bring the kids out to participate in the skills stations and Youth soccer showcase, master clinics from US national team members, Freestyle juggling competition with world champion Elie Freeze and celebrity match with Claudio Reyna, Jeff Agoos, Eddie Lewis, Richie Williams, ndamukong suh, Justin Tuck, Leshawn Merritt, Juan Agudelo and many more. Insanity

Albert Einstein is said to have said.."insanity is making the same mistakes over and over and expecting a different outcome...".
I must be insane. Or in denial. Or have lofty selfish goals where I get everything AND everyone I am supposed to be suporting gets everything They want. The world is super geared to my wants and everyone's needs as well. Selfish because I don't really care about society and even family. And with this attitude, I m just gonna keep acting insted of being, because BEing is responsible and that's not fun or self serving. There is nothing to look foward to. Although I am eventually going to die, I ll keep dreaming insted of seeing. What I will keep my eyes open for is an opportunity to take advantage for purely selfish reasons and personal sensory experiences.
Why does life have to only be one habituated living way, where sometimes I trick my self to think I ve learned and overcame obstacles and changed my inner self only to find that I m still thinking and acting the same.
Is this insanity or is this an excercise in self awareness/affirmation/masterbation?

120120. Keepin hope and peace alive.

Brooklyn's Public School 261, came out in seasonably cold, blustery january and held a public peace rally at brookyn's borough hall! Representative Daniel Squadron and Borough president Marty came tovthe rally. They showed up and stated eloquent things like.... '..some peoples of color and some lacking color...' and Mr. Squadron's remanicing of his father, who participated in the monumental washington DC march.

The children spoke out about their hopes and dreams about abundance of medicine for the sick, for the abundance of shelters for the  homeless and abundance of food for the hungry. They chanted 'Children are fabulous and we won't be stopped.'
All those in the cold felt a great sense of right in this world full of wrongs.
When did we as adults decide that complication and complicating messes were going to be better bed fellows than simplicity and dreams? Why can't some questions of solving problems become more straight foward and determinedly more simple rather than complicated? Beautiful diversity and perspectives in every human and our humanity is seperated only truly by self serving negativity. The answer to solving our worldly problems are as complicated as it is simple. I think individual responsibility and self perspective is our only solution. From each individual, the questions can be wrestled and answered.
When did puppets become 'leaders'? Why do we follow them? Why can t leaders also listen and follow? Why can't we lead our individual self to greatness not tainted with self loathing and fear, so that we can spread love and joy and share our great energy of warmth with everyone we come in contact with?

Happy Birthday, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr! Happy Birthday to all human revolutionaries, young and old, not yet born and they who lived! Free at last, free at last! We will all be free at last!
